"When I have talked for an hour I feel lousy –
Not so when I have danced for an hour:
The dancers inherit the party"
Chamber Choir Ireland returns to New Music Dublin with a programme of mesmerising choral works, featuring the world premiere of Gabriel Jackson's The Dancers Inherit the Party.
Known for their awe-inspiring performances and creative approach to commissioning, CCI brings world-class choral music to audiences across Ireland and internationally. This performance includes David Fennessy's eccentric chOirland – made up of nonsense lyrics taken from the choruses of traditional Irish songs and ballads – and Eoghan Desmond's I am. Cassandra Miller’s The City, Full of People invites you to eavesdrop on 'a cacophony of private secrets,' immersed in the meditative echoes of Tallis's 16th-century lamentations, and the choir’s new commission from Gabriel Jackson – based on the eponymous poem by Ian Hamilton Finlay – closes the programme.
The City, Full of People was commissioned by Eamonn Quinn of Louth Contemporary Music Society, with funding provided by the Arts Council of Ireland and Robert D. Bielecki Foundation.
